October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and once again Albany Law School is a partner in the Purple Lights Campaign. At dusk during the month of October you will see the outdoor lights on the New Scotland Avenue side of the Law School turn bright purple. Albany Law School’s Candle Light vigil will take place on Thursday, October 8th at 7 p.m. in front of the Law School (New Scotland Avenue area).
We are requesting that you choose a day during the month to wear a piece of purple clothing in remembrance of all victims.
Throughout the year, our students, staff and faculty have worked tirelessly with local courts, government and nonprofit agencies, task forces and coalitions on new initiatives related to domestic violence. This semester alone, our students worked in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady courts assisting in the prosecution of domestic violence crimes through our Albany Law Clinic & Justice Center.
NOTE: In each of the bathrooms and at both security stations on our campus you will find customized brochure holders – holding local confidential support services brochures, share with someone today! Join the many local colleges and support services members from the many Capital District services providers who will host end of month Candle Light Vigils, and hands projects.
