• Sexual Assault takes many forms, including rape, child molestation, incest, fondling, and any other unwanted sexual contact
  • 1 in 6 American women has been the victim of a rape or attempted rape
  • 70% of all assault victims known to law enforcement are juveniles
  • 1 in 10 victims of sexual assault is male
  • Perpetrators of sexual assault can be strangers, friends, acquaintances, or family members

NOTE: On Friday, May 8th, from 8am-11am the Albany Law Grant Task Force members will be sponsoring a Coffee & Bagel Study Break for all students (in the Foyer outside the Library).  Please stop by and meet 2 of our team members, pick up our new brochure, we will be on hand to wish you well on exams!

During the month of April, the Diversity Office  in collaboration with the U.S. DOJ Domestic Violence Grant’s Campus Task Force (which includes student reps. from each class, staff and faculty members), a representative from Equinox and New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NYSCASA) will be staffing an Information Table (Three Thursdays during the month of April for 3 hours: Dates are: April 16, 23 & 30), from Noon – 3pm.  Tabling will take place in the Foyer outside the Library, we will be providing informational literature, also pick up a free water bottles.  Volunteer opportunities to assist victims of Sexual Violence will be available.    Thank you to all who joined Team Albany Law on Saturday, April 25th. with the:   Would You?  Walk a Mile in Her Shoes 2009 Campaign:  “The Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence” .  Team Albany Law School, received a free T-Shirts and represented us on Saturday’s walk, they had a great time.    If you have questions or would like to join us with tabling next school year, please email the Diversity Office at: diversity@albanylaw.edu    

NOTE: During the 2009-2010 school year, the Albany Law DV Grant Task Force (comprising of students, staff & faculty) will be tabling twice per month for 3 hours to bring attention to this effort and to give out important resource information to all members of our community.
