Honoring the Class of 2010 NYSBA Kenneth G. Standard Interns

On August 3rd, ten New York State Bar Association Kenneth G. Standard Diversity interns were honored by the Diversity Internship Committee of the Bar Association’s Business Law Section.  A reception was held at the Times Square offices of Pryor Cashman, LLP.   The Diversity Office at Albany Law School was honored to have two members of the Class of 2011 selected for this prestigious statewide diversity internship program.  The two students spent their summer working in the corporate legal offices of Pfizer, Inc. in New York City and New York Power Authority in Albany.  The Program was named after former NYSBA president Kenneth G. Standard, and it focuses on identifying and supporting in-house internship opportunities for law students from a diverse range of backgrounds.

The mission of the Program is to increase the representation of lawyers and students from a diverse range of backgrounds in corporate legal departments, and to provide students with an opportunity to experience in-house legal practice. The ultimate goal of the Diversity Internship Program (“the Program”) is to create a network and forge relationships which will foster greater diversity in corporate legal departments throughout New York State. Through the Program student interns will be provided a meaningful and appropriately supervised work experience by host companies working in partnership with the NYSBA Corporate Counsel Section’s Diversity Internship Committee (the “Internship Committee”).  The Chair of the Diversity Internship Committee is an Albany Law School alum David Rothenberg, Esq. ’94.  Below in the photo album David joins the Director of Diversity, our students, the NYSBA president Stephen Younger, Esq., ’82 (a member of our Board of Trustees) and Kenneth G. Standard.  To learn more about this and other diversity internship programs, contact Pershia M. Wilkins, Director, Diversity Office, at diversity@albanylaw.edu.
