Today was an awesome day and I would like to thank Albany Law School for making it possible. The activity I enjoyed most today was the mock trial. I enjoyed it because I got to see in real life how a court system works instead of just watching it on Law and Order SVU. I learned that my mom works in a busy office but because of her she is able to keep it flowing nicely and organized. I would love to come again next year and my one suggestion would be add more time for the mock trial so we can make our closing arguement and also be able to cross examine the last witness. Thanks again for a terrific day!

The activity I loved the most was the Mock Trial.
I learned that my mom works harder than i had thought. I truly do respect the hard work my mom does for our family.
Would I love to come again next year?
    YYYYYEEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
My only suggestion is expanding the age limit for the older kids that come. So that kids like 16 and 17 can come.

My name is Nick Darling and I am 11 years old. I go to Dolgeville Central School. My favorite activity was when we got to do the mock trial. It was my favorite part because I won the custody battle and the bunny. I enjoyed being the client and seeing how the court worked. It was fun having to do it in front of the other kids. It was fun because we had a lot of laughs. It was fun because the attorney for the other kid was fighting with the judge, and it was funny. I really liked testifying and acting out the story. I also liked the cookie thief because it showed us how to identify people and I learned that you gotta be specific when you identify people so the police can catch them.

Today I learned that the breezeway is breezy because of the way the buildings are. I saw where the Dean was, and who he was. I saw my sister’s professors and got to meet one of them. In the mock class we learned about torts. I learned that if you raise your hand to someone, it’s called an assault, even if you don’t hit them. I learned that the whole room can be controlled by a little monitor. I learned that there are a ton of cameras all over the law school. I learned that to be a lawyer, you have to take a big test called the bar exam. I learned that my sister is real busy at law school, and that is why sometimes she doesn’t come home a lot. I had a lot of fun.

Yes, I want to come again next year. Next year, if there’s a class going on, we could at least peak in quick to see how they really learn and then leave quick. It’d be nice if they had a better variety of drinks, but it was still really good- everything was good. They could have told us what the Dean does. It’s be nice if they had more basketballs in the gym, we only had 2. I’d like to learn more what the students do. The class was perfect, but maybe criminal law would be cool to learn about too. I loved the tour, but it’d be nice to see more. More pizza! It’d be nice if the teachers didn’t but in so much during the mock trial, so we can do more stuff by ourselves and have more fun- every time we started an argument and had fun, the teachers would say ‘stop” and we want to be ourselves. It’d be nice if the people that didn’t get a part would be able to have a chance to have one. Even if there had to be 2 attorneys and 2 clients. I know we have to have some jurors, but some people really wanted to be up there. Even if there had to be more than one group.

Thank you to everyone who participated. I had a lot of fun, and I hope they do it again next year because I would like to come again to see everything. Thank you for letting me keep the bunny, I will always remember it.

    1. Which activity today did you enjoy the most?
    – Personally, I enjoyed the mock trial with Tiger the Bunny.
    2. What did you learn about what your parent does at Albany Law School?
    – I learned that my mom meets with lots of people, works with employers and counsels students.
    3. Do you plan to come again next year? Any suggestions?
    – I plan on coming next year. I suggest that the classroom experience in the morning be shortened to a half hour in the morning, and a half hour in the afternoon to allow the information to sink in better. The mini skit was a great way to have the students interact.

Thank you to everyone who organized this program!
