OUTlaw is hosting this event on March 31, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the West Wing, featuring Bennett H. Klein, Esq., lead attorney in Kerrigan v. Commissioner of Public Health (currently awaiting decision by the Connecticut Supreme Court)

V-Day Comes to Albany Law

vday.gifIn honor of V-Day, on March 29, 2008, Albany Law School will present Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monlogues to “celebrate women, raise awareness and envision a world with violence.” 

There will be a silent auction before the show and a reception after.

Proceeds will benefit Albany Law School Clinic and Justice Center Family Violence Clinic and the Legal Project.

Where applications to law schools around the nation are down 1.4%, at Albany Law School, they are up 25%.  The number of minority applicants have increased 59%!!

The Social and Legal Aspects of Human Trafficking Panel Held

APALSA & Amnesty International Presented a Refugee and Asylum Law Panel on “The Social and Legal Aspects of Human Trafficking” on March 26, 2008 at 4:00 pm in the Dean Alexander Moot Courtroom.

The speakers were:

Seth Leech, Whiteman, Partner, Osterman & Hanna

Kimberly Finnigan, Associate, Whiteman, Osterman & Hanna

• Mokaya Bosire, Human Trafficking Coordinator, Catholic Charities

They led an interesting discussion of the social, emotional and psychological impact of human trafficking and the associated legal and practical remedies.
